"How I spent my Christmas in Hawaii"A brief diary of a college vacation. (12/20/2001) -(1/3/2001)
I'm not entirely certain why I started this, well OK that's a lie, I started this because right before I went to Hawaii my laptop died thus killing all my hopes for being geeky and writing code on the beach. So I spent a lot of time slacking on the sand and felt the need to keep busy! Thus I found myself writing a great deal. I also doodled a bit and have included those sketches here as well, nothing too exiting. I made this page up for everyone who asked me "So do you have any photos?" to which I have always answered "A few, I'll post them soon..." so here, they're posted. Back Story: So, set the Way-Back-Machine to last summer (that's summer 2000 for you kids back home). It's about senior year of college and I'm realizing that I have basically three vacations left in which to live it up before I have to enter the "real world" and do "work" all the time. Upon the dawning of this realization three things occurred, (1) I swore like a sailor, (2) I reminisced over vacations-past only to realize there had been nothing memorable about them, (3) I contacted my friend Baka in a panic fearing the same dire fate awaited the remaining few. Needless to say we both agreed that drastic steps had to be taken. Baka and I, along with another of my friends, Heather, and her boyfriend, all ruminated for a while and decided that this Christmas required something special... something *big*... naturally our thoughts turned towards Hawaii. So money was saved, tickets were bought, and reservations made, oh yeah there was also a whole semester of classes to be fought through, a job to apply for and accept, a new girlfriend for Baka, computer troubles for me, and a giant-city-devouring-lizard to be defeated with the help of the local power authority and a small boy in a baseball-cap, but those events are out of scope of this story. This story begins (as all good travel logs do) with two people trying to get to an airport in a screaming hurry on a cold and winery morning.
